How to make your life interesting? And how to be special? Part 1

In the era of Internet and omnipresence of smartphones, the transfer of information to almost everyone on this planet causes all of us to be almost the same. As much as we like to think that we are special some patterns and styles tend to repeat themselves.

Therefore the question arises if we can be special and have our own style. Moreover how can we find our own style? I have thought about it for some time now and would like to share some of the tools I use to create my own style.

Happy Old Man

1 Listening to Podcasts.

I find it the most profound and interesting tool of all of how to create your own style. I noticed that podcasters are the people that are 99% people that are searching themselves for their own style. They tend to change topics and move to other topics all the time. I have found that one day one can do podcast about history and tomorrow can do something about how that history is creating technology in the modern world. Moreover during their podcasts going off topic seems to be a standard practice.

Another thing which many people don’t see in podcasting is listener’s feedback. Usually listeners give some creative feedback and point the author into other directions. Therefore it’s worth it to listen to the end of podcasts.

2 Travelling

I am talking here about some unorganized travel. I found that many book their travels from the organized operators and they travel to another country not even experiencing the culture. Going from one tourist attraction to another is not travelling.

I am talking here about going to places alone with other friends by yourselves. It doesn’t have to be China or India. It can be place in your city even but it you need to do research by yourself and manage by yourself. Putting yourself in such situation can really kick start your brain and bring creativity back to your life. We are used to everything being put on a plate for us but it’s time to let it go and do something for ourselves.

3 Realizing that world will go around without you too.

There are billions of people on this planet and you not being there won’t make any difference. Once you realize that than and only than you will think and do things that ultimately will make you special in the eyes of the others.

Let me give you the example. Mother that sends the kids to school every day and after school sends kids for the extra curriculum activities for all the kids’ life. Many mothers think that they need to do it and they are irreplaceable. Wrong attitude. You don’t have to do it all. With this attitude many people wake up when they are 50 and they realized they didn’t do anything in their lives.

All in all you have to realize that you don’t live for other people to see you. You live to live your life for yourself. Once you start doing this than will find your own way (style)

4 Take up sport.

According to many specialist sport is vital to the development of the brain. It doesn’t matter what it is but there must be some physical activity. Without it we get tired all the time. All in all sports have many benefits and it’s a must for everyone.

The question is how to find a good sport for you? There is one golden rule. Find a sport that you will enjoy even if it takes effort to do. My advice would be to try them all. Start with what is available in your area. Ask your friends. Biking to work can be a good idea.

5 Find something you always wanted to do when you were a child.

I have noticed that when we were children we had lots of plans and we never realized them. I used to dream about being a fireman and once day when I was 34 I went to the firehouse and did one day tour there. It was great.

I am talking about this because when were children we had dreams and once we get to adulthood we have goals. Dreams usually translate to something more permanent than goals.

Once you do it than usually you get lots of satisfaction from that and it may really be the beginning of something different. I have a friend who always wanted to be a pilot and on his 40 th birthday he went to fly school. After that he left his job in a financial sector and became small commercial pilot. He is very happy now and as I say found his way of life.

This is the end of part 1 - part 2 in the works
